Meadowlark Quilt
My husband and I took on a huge project early on in our marriage…..we totally gutted and restored/rebuilt the 1930’s stone house on our farm. It was a HUGE undertaking, that took many more years that we originally planned. However, when the end was finally in sight, I got to really start planning the interior. It has always been my dream for every bed in my house to have a handmade quilt on it; and honestly my ultimate goal is to have one for every bed for every season!! We aren’t quite there yet!
But, I have completed a quilt for every bed in our house! The guest bedroom is completely furnished with family antiques! It features a cherry 4-post bed with cherry dresser, marble top end tables, matching painted glass globe lamps, and poplar hard wood floors that were originally the second story floor joists. So, this room needed a quilt that fit!
Along comes Meadowlark!! It is a pattern by Jennifer over at Penelope Handmade! I just love her and her patterns!! We are kindred spirits. All her quilts have a traditional feel and as soon as she released this one, I knew it was exactly what I was looking for!
My Meadowlark quilt is my first quilt made totally from linen fabrics. I picked my favorites: blues and oranges with some creams mixed in. I used bamboo batting to give it a soft feel and that perfect drape! I quilted it in a classic clam shell pattern. And it is just lovely. I truly love the surprise on the back. The backing fabric just matched the front perfectly, but gave it that fun flair!!
