Meaningful Collaborations

If you have been around for a while, you will know that Martha Jane is not my real name. It is a combination of my grandmothers’ first names. Both of these women are no longer with us, but they left such a great impact on my life and my creativity! It is so special to me to honor their legacies through my little quilty business.

So, when I saw a preview of Elizabeth Chappell’s, of Quilter’s Candy, first fabric line, Gayle Loraine - named for her mother, I quickly began mocking up some of my patterns. Oh, the ideas were endless!

SUBMITTING SOME IDEAS

I have been blessed to get to work with Art Gallery Fabrics on projects for different Fabric Collection LookBooks. This has been such an honor in itself, and also such a fun process. I constantly have ideas running though my head and its fun to mock up different patterns in new fabrics and see what is liked.

It came time to submit ideas for the Gayle Loraine LookBook, and as always, I submitted multiple mockups.

I’M BLUSHING

I seriously couldn’t believe that 3 different patterns and projects were chosen to be in the Art Gallery Fabrics LookBook for the fabric collection! Yes, I have had projects featured before, but I couldn’t believe that 3 were chosen! Such an honor!

FABRIC ARRIVES

OH MY GOODNESS……. the fabric was even more pretty in person!! The 3 patterns I chose to work with were Martha (inspired by my dad’s mother), College Grove (inspired by my mom’s mother), and Water Valley (designed for my mother-in-law). Seeing these patterns come to life, in fabric that I knew had a similarly deep connection to a quilty friend of mine was so special.

THE MOST GLORIOUS PICTURES

I also think this was the most fun seeing my creations in print. Art Gallery Fabrics has an amazing studio and can take the most glorious pictures. I seriously stalked their site for a week waiting on the LookBook release (it was a little later than originally planned due to the holidays). WOW!!! The spreads were absolutely gorgeous. My husband even made a point to say that they were really great.

THE BEST PART

The most rewarding part of this LookBook was getting to collaborate with my favorite fabric company, Art Gallery Fabrics, and helping to promote a friend’s first ever fabric collection. The friends I have made during my quilting journey have always been the best part. Being able to support each other, bounce ideas off each other and be cheerleaders for one another is just the best feeling!!
