Becoming a MQ Maker
I am happy to announce that along with writing my own patterns, the first to release in August, I was also recently chosen as a Maker for the Midlife Quilter. Victoria is a wonderful person, with an adorable shop, and an eye for fabric!! She curates some of the cutest bundles! Keep an eye on our IG feeds to see some of the amazing projects she has in store!! Then head on over to her shop to pickup some adorable fabrics bundles to recreate some of the projects you see!
My first project as a maker wasn’t a quilt, but I was still super excited. I chose to make a gardening apron. I do love my flowers, house plants and raise a big vegetable garden every year, so this apron was right up my alley. I have also always wanted to make a gardening apron. And, Victoria chose the most perfect fabric……two prints from Grow and Harvest by Alexandra Bordallo for Art Gallery Fabrics. I’m in love with this fabric line and it speaks to the farm girl in me!! You will see this fabric again in some coming projects!
The pattern is a free tutorial from Satori Designs. I do suggest reading through the tutorial a few times before starting. There were a couple parts that didn’t make sense to me at first (mostly how she attached the top band), but after carefully reading again and analyzing with the fabric as I was working on it, began to make sense and ended up making me feel silly!
Overall, it is a quick and fun project that I highly recommend if you like to garden! Stay tuned for more projects in the future. I am just getting started on my next Maker project and it is going to be gorgeous!!!
